Warwick in Venice
Warwick in Venice |
Venice is a fantastic place to study, full of places to explore and discover! No matter what you read and how many guide books you leaf through, the reality of the Warwick Term has to be experienced to be believed! Yet, I hope this blog provides some useful insights into the term, I certainly found myself saying at certain times, 'I wish someone had told me about this!' I hope you enjoy the blog and that it enhances your time in Venice.
Palazzo Pesaro Papafava
The university rents out two floors of the palazzo, accommodating two seminar rooms, a study room, lecture hall and a small library. The library also opens up onto a small garden, also available for students to sit in. The palazzo only has a limited number of computers. However, students are able to access the internet via their laptops. Bring your own plug adaptor as the palazzo doesn't have any. The palazzo is also only open on weekdays and not in the evenings, so it is worth exploring Venetian libraries when the palazzo is shut.

The University of Warwick has made increasingly strong ties with the Venetian, Università Ca' Foscari. In your first week of term you will be shown round the university and have the option of using Ca' Foscari facilities, such as the humanities library, university cafes and also the student canteen. The Buddy Scheme can also partner you up with a Ca' Foscari student. The scheme is a great way to meet local students! The best way to find out nice places to eat and drink is undoubtedly through the local students.
The University of Warwick prides itself on being part of the Venetian centre of learning, opening its doors to a local and international community. In 2010 the university was awarded the Venice Prize for Cultural Communication.
